ApplicationsCurrent appropriate applications for the SuperDrive CVT System include trucks and buses that require many starts and stops as a part of their normal duty cycle. The diesel engine does its most its work at 1500 rpm with the use of the SuperDrive CVT. Thus constant smooth acceleration rates at a constant engine speed saves the most fuel under acceleration. Typical applications include use in school buses, city transit buses, refuse trucks, package delivery trucks, beverage delivery trucks, and utility trucks. Vocational trucks using engine PTO devices or transmission PTO devices especially benefit from the hydraulic pressure available from the CVT primary pump which can provide volume and pressure at idle greater than conventional PTO’s. This will dramatically save fuel under normal vocational truck operation of accessories by running the engine at speeds less than the governed engine speed. |
